“There are a range of job opportunities available within the First Nations media sector in WA. Media organisations create engagement and employment opportunities through school programs, specialised programming on issues such as domestic violence, outside broadcast opportunities for events and meetings and a broad range of skills development opportunities in communications, administrative, digital mentoring and technical roles. We see these activities as aligned with the closing the gap objectives…We would like to see state governments working more directly with local media organisations at a regional level. Our members often talk about wanting to partner with activities and initiatives in their local area, but being directed back to offices in Perth or Canberra and being overlooked due to a lack of local knowledge.”
